Karen Deierhoi
CPA, Co-founder and President
Karen Deierhoi is a financial executive with over 25 years of financial management and reporting experience. Ms. Deierhoi provides leadership over technical accounting issues, client development and client relationship management.
Ms. Deierhoi brings ten years of experience at Ernst & Young, where she worked with public and private companies in the high-tech, retail, health care, not-for-profit and venture capital industries. Ms. Deierhoi also brings her experience as the Director of Finance of a $50 million, multi-location non-profit organization where, amongst other responsibilities, she managed the shared finance and accounting services for its 19 locations.
Ms. Deierhoi is a CPA in the state of North Carolina and holds a degree in business (accounting) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Deierhoi frequently conducted accounting and audit training courses at Ernst & Young and was a facilitator in the firm’s leadership development program. She has supported entrepreneurial programs as a panelist and speaker. She has served in advisory roles for non-profit organizations and is a member of the North Carolina Association of CPAs.
David Vergoz
MBA, Co-founder and CEO
David Vergoz is a financial executive with over 25 of senior financial management experience working primarily with small and mid-sized emerging businesses. Mr. Vergoz leads all aspects of BlackWood’s operations and provides strategic direction to the company.
Mr. Vergoz served as the VP of Finance and VP of Strategic Financial Planning at YOUcentric. He has also served in the positions of CFO, Director of Finance and Operations, and Controller at small and early stage companies primarily in the high-technology and publishing industries. Additionally, Mr. Vergoz was a senior financial analyst for a venture capital firm based in New York.
Mr. Vergoz holds an MBA in finance from New York University and undergraduate degrees in economics and political science from the University of Utah. Mr. Vergoz has been a frequent speaker on financial management principals and financial modeling. He has served as a delegate to the North Carolina Governor’s Conference on Small Business and has been a panelist at the Center for Entrepreneurial Development. He has been a member of the Turnaround Management Association.
